A September Day With Cody

Hi all! Cody here to share a bit of our yard with you. Can you see I am unimpressed with that woodpecker? He was loud!
Momma took me out with her while she let Mr. Sun heat up her joints. Our sunflowers are all blooming and the bees are very happy. Do you see the bee in the sunflower?
Momma has been admiring bird pictures lately. She likes this September Songbird picture a lot. Do you think he would taste good? :) I wonder what woodpeckers taste like?

As a senior cat of 15, I am moving a bit slower these days. Momma is moving slow too. We try to take one day at a time here, enjoying the good and trying to put the bad out of our minds. I am helping Momma around the house as best as I can. Last night, so she wouldn't have to, I opened up a fresh bag of dry cat food and knocked it over so a lot would spill onto the floor. Then us kitties could just help ourselves with night time munchies and let Momma sleep. It worked too! We didn't bother her for breakfast until 9:00 this morning!

Momma said, "Um, gee, thanks Cody!" Then grumbled something about a broom. I told her not to worry about it. Us kitties will just munch on it throughout the day. Just be careful not to step on it when you use the microwave. ;)

August Garden Tour With Cody

Cody's August Garden Tour

Hello efurrybody! Cody here with our August garden tour. As you may know I am Momma's official cat helper in the garden. She lets me go out with her to weed and water and of course take pictures. I hate it when she drags me inside though.
We are winding down in the gardening season here. This summer was not very good for our flowers. It was very cool with lots of rain. Flowers in the summer need warmer temps and plenty of sun. So do I and Momma! :)

We like our Mr. Sun and his faerie friend Betony. They enjoy the Foxgloves and little garden faeries hide in the Foxglove in the evening.
The pink lily is the last blooming lily of the summer. It is called Rubrium. It's a Turk's Cap. It looks like it has little rubies embedded in it's petals. Momma ordered them from Old House Gardens a while ago.

We like the red and orange Lantana with the purple Pansies in our old Tuscan sun flower pot.

Momma and I have decided that the Hibiscus is not quite dinner plate sized; More like dessert plate maybe. But, still, they are lovely. We are still waiting for the white ones to open and our Sunflowers are not quite open yet. They will probably open this week.
Sadly, today is the last day we will be in the low 80's. We will be getting an Autumnal chill coming in after Wednesday. Bummer!

The two boy kitties are still visiting us and Momma is still feeding them. The Daddyman is not very happy about it. He thinks they need to go to the Humane Society. Momma said No Way! Tigger Roo especially will have a hard time getting a home. Most people don't want older cats like him.
Momma of course wants every kind of cat! What am I going to do with her? :) I'm happy and Lucky that she loves me even though I am an older gentleman.

Lavendar Blue and Cody Too

Hey everyone! It's me; Cody the friendly gardening cat. (I'm the longer haired nice boy black cat of the family)
While Momma picked Lavender yesterday I relaxed on the front porch. Don't worry she watched me like a hawk. I can't get away with anything with her!
She put in on our old front door with a gold ribbon. We think it looks nice in a shabby chic kind of way. There is also some Russian sage with it.

Okay, take a look at Toeshee. Bigafy if you want, but it might take up your whole screen. Hee hee! He is really heavy! It hurts Momma's hands to pick him up! How much are Maine Coon cats supposed to weigh? We think he must be pushing 15 to 2o lbs. Is it time for Iams "Diet" cat food?

Oh, before I go, look at the pretty collage of Tookie and the sweet pictures and poem on our sidebar. Miss Peach's Mommy Karla made that. Momma gets all teary eyed whenever she looks at it. She is trying to gather courage to get some more pictures of Tookie posted. It has been 2 years and a month and we still miss her something awful. She was a great LadyCat.
It is also our 2 year blogaversary. We are grateful for all of the amazing furbabies and beans that we have met. We Love you all!

Garden Cat Cody

Cody Takes a Garden Tour


Hey everyone! Cody, master gardening cat here to show the latest plants that are blooming in our back yard. Momma takes me out with her on nice days and I help her with the plants. I inspect them and help pull weeds. I am quite pleased with the new pot of cat nip!
The red Dalia and orange Lantana look nice together. Momma likes the clover shaped Oxalis with the little white flowers. She likes her Iris "Jellybean" too.
Orange and purple are our favorite colors and the little fairy named Periwinkle watches over the flowers.

Of course Momma says I'm prettier than all the flowers in the garden.
Momma, I'm a Mancat! I'm handsome, not pretty!

She is worried about me as I get older. I am somewhere between 14 and 15 and I have lost a little weight. She wants me to go to the V E T for a checkup, but the Daddyman says there is no need. My appetite is pretty good and I still have energy. He thinks it's normal for cats to loose a little weight as they age.
I personally am not worried, but Momma of course is watching me like a mother hen.

Her jaw and teeth have been very hurty for the past few days, so she is calling her dentist to see if he can see what's wrong. She thinks her RA medicine is affecting her gums somehow, but her jaw is clicking so loud us kitties can hear it when she yawns.
Poor worry filled, mother hen Momma. I think she needs another sunny day with me outside!

We hope you all have warm sunny days ahead. (Well, Miss Peach's Mommy doesn't like it too warm, so not too hot for her.) We will keep Mickey in our thoughts as he has his teeth fixed up too.

Spring is Truly Here!

Welcome Spring

Cody finally had a chance to wander with me outside. He was very happy. Well, until the garbage truck made its rounds. He freaked out! "Momma! Help!" I scooped him up and took him in. After a snack of Fancy Feast he felt much better. When the garbage truck monster left we went out again.
Right now the tulips and candy tuft are blooming in the front and bleeding hearts and Virginia blue bells in the east side and west side. I love the bleeding hearts. They are so delicate!

My big problem with the garden is the weeds. They are out of control! I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but my fingers and hands are a bit sore right now and getting up and down from weeding is really hard on my knees and hips. It will take me weeks to pull all the weeds and by the time I'm done the they'll be back again! I don't use chemicals because of all the birds and squirrels and stray kitties around and I do take Cody out with me too.
I feel so bad that I can't handle all the stuff around the house as easily as I used to.
I just need to tell myself that I'm on a slower time clock now. It will get done, just not all in one fell swoop. :) ;)

A Little Downtime Snug at Home

Sleepy Time

I took the picture of Billie sleeping on her head last night. I love her little face. I love her and how she comes to keep me company. Do you know kitties are psychic to our moods? She always knows when I need a friend to snuggle next to.

I took the picture of Toeshee this morning. As he gets older he sleeps more. When he was little he was like a little rocket bouncing off the walls. Now he's more like a furry wrecking ball. When he crashes into things I am left to decide if I need the Super Glue or the broom and dust pan.

I am trying to get some rest today. I had a long doctor visiting day yesterday and I'm feeling a bit discouraged. I will be starting a higher dose of Methotrexate and I must inject myself with it from now on. The needles are thin and I practiced the whole procedure with the very nice nurse, so I think I can do it. It's just the idea of poking myself with a needle I guess. Ick!

Not much else is new. I think coming up will be spring chores: Steam cleaning the carpet and furniture, (the kitties hate the giant sucking machine) and helping my husband clean windows, and getting Frontline for the kitties before flea season really kicks in. My flowers are coming up, which is always a happy thing to see.

Taking It Easy With Cody

Hey efurryone! Momma and I had a nice early spring day yesterday. The sunshine warmed up the afternoon nicely and I went outside with Momma and the Daddyman. She was feeling queasy from her RA monster medicine so she relaxed on the sunny front porch with me while the Daddyman raked out the flower bed. Momma wore a coat because she doesn't have long soft furs that soak in the sun like me. :) She had some gingerale and that really helped her tummy. She liked the bottle because it had a tiger on it. It had real bits of ginger floating in it and wasn't too sugary like some other gingerales. She let me sniff it, but I wasn't impressed. She doesn't know why it's called ginger beer, because there is no beer in it. Momma can't have stuff like that because of her medicines. (She's loopy enough anyway.)
Too bad they don't make catnip ale. Maybe someone should!
After our outdoor excursion I rested for the evening. It was my turn to snuggle with Lily the Bunny. Momma says soon the fairies will return to the garden to dance with the bunnies and fireflies at Twilight. She has a wild imagination doesn't she? To be honest, as a kitty who gets up to gaze out the windows I have seen some things... mysterious wonderful things that only a cat can see... ;)
Momma is looking for some cute Easter pictures to post and I suspect she will be pointing that flashy box at us again.

Halloween Crash

Isn't our Jack o lantern cute? We used a stencil, traced it and carved it. We put it between two lanterns that we keep on our front porch.

We didn't have a huge amount of trick or treaters, but the ones that came were cute little ones. Cody and Toeshee were a little scared. Billie bravely rested in the living room and did not hide once. Toeshee exhausted himself running in and out from under the sofa. Finally, while bathing his tummy he crashed. That's how he fell asleep; his upper body slumped over his big floofy tail.
Cricket who would have looked cool sitting in the front window, chose to stay up in my room.
The weekend here was very quiet. Chores and napping. It will be warm here for a few days so I'm going to check in on my garden and say goodnight to my plants until Spring.
I will try to check in with all of my blogging friends too. :)
