Who popped the bubble wrap?
Not us Momma!
So I received a lovely parcel of little pressies, including posh little leopard print catnip mousies, from Lovely Helena. (Thank You Helena, you are wonderful!)
In this box was bubble wrap. Big bubbles, big bang when popped. Especially at 3:00 am!
I was in the middle of somewhat precarious sleep to begin with. Cricket was on my legs as usual and Miss Billie was on my left side. Daddyman was snoring blissfully and the boy kitties were I think, somewhere upstairs. Suddenly I woke up to this loud Pop! Pop! Pop!
Scared the life out of me! See, I think a little background is needed to explain why I thought it was something very scary.
A couple of summers ago we had a very rainy couple of weeks. The house being old, has old wiring and my husband had not been able to get to all of it. (He's very good at wiring anything electrical.) It seems that some of the wiring didn't like the damp air. (this is my husband's reasoning for why it happened out of the blue)
The light switch in our dining room sparked. I mean flames shot out of it! And it made a loud POP noise as it did. I was absolutely terrified and even though power in the house didn't go out I turned off anything that was on. The sparking barely lasted a few seconds and then all was eerily calm. I called my husband at work. "Flames shot out of the dining room wall!"
He rushed home to find a freaked out wife and daughter. The cats were not fazed a bit of course even though I got out the PTU's ready to carry them out of our money pit, death trap house.
He turned off the breaker and got all the tools and wiring needed to do what needed to be done. A half hour later all was fixed. I saw the scorch mark on the plaster in the wall which was pretty scary. The metal box the switch is set into prevented it from catching fire.
So, being sleepy, with that memory in the back of my mind, I awoke to the popping noise terrified that it was happening again, this time in the family room.
No. It was bubble wrap. Being popped by my daughter and her boyfriend while they ate Ramen noodle soup and watched X Files.
GRRR!
Not only did it frighten me and my husband, the cats were really upset. Cricket flew off the bed. I think poor Billie halfway fell off the bed as she tried to jump off. And the two boys were no where to be found.
The teenagers sheepishly apologized, though I got the feeling they thought I had lost my mind. I didn't express anger, just complete fear and sleepy confusion. Husband just grumbled and fell back to sleep. (Of course.)
Anyway, that was my night. I'm tired. The kitties are napping. The bubble wrap is still here, but only because Cody seems to like the padding in the box as you can see from the picture. That cat has never met a box that he hasn't tried to crawl in and nap in.
I hope nothing goes bump or pop in the night for any of you!
Long Week
Hi everyone. I'm so sorry we haven't been visiting this week. It's been a rough one. We have been hit with quite a nasty snowstorm here. Frigid temps and blowing snow. The stupid man who owns Sylvester did not let him in! My husband actually put him in our PTU and carried him over there.
We gave them the chance to do the right thing and it didn't last long.
The next bitter cold morning he was out again and on our front porch.
I brought him in and my husband said he could stay in our enclosed back porch for a while. It's still really cold back there though and Sylvester got a bit wild and knocked shelves over and just generally cried the whole time.
My husband had to go wait for his dad's surgery to be completed at the hospital, so it was just me, my daughter, her boyfriend and five high strung cats. When my husband came home he was really sad and upset.
His dad has two kinds of cancer in his bladder. One is evil and spreading. His doctor said he has six months to a year left.
I also didn't have a chance to talk about his beloved Aunt Grace, (his dad's sister) who passed away last Saturday. My husband and I loved her because she was always so sweet and kind to everyone. She was 94 years old.
There's just so much going on, it's hard to put it all down. (sigh...)
Anyway, we can not keep Sylvester. My husband said absolutely not. He went back outside yesterday and seemed to be heading back to his house. He couldn't wait to get out of here, after crying and spraying and knocking things over. He's fixed, so the spraying was a surprise. I kept looking for him all evening and he never came back. Then this morning I saw him on the front porch! I went to get him some food, hoping to coax him back into the house so I could put him on the back porch again. (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment and my husband is at work) When I returned, Sylvester was gone. :(
I am just so sad and frustrated with everything right now. Why do people have to get cancer? Why can't people care for their pets? What is wrong with them!?
Sorry about the rant there... Anyway, I still have to get my cards to the post office. We have not done any Christmas shopping yet and I just want to stay in my pj's and visit blogs. But, I need to get dressed and try to shovel and maybe chase after a cat who doesn't understand that I just want to help him.
How do we get through to his owners? What should I do?
Now, I'm crying again...
Okay, things will get better. Cricket says they must and she is the Queen of everything. So I will go give her and my other kitties some nom noms, take a shower and get on with my day. I will try really hard to start visiting too.
Wish us luck.
Cricket, here; Don't worry, I will look after her. I won't even complain if she lets that Sylvester in again. He just better not eat all my Fancy Feast! I will try not to be very naughty either. (boy, that will be tough!)
A little blurry today.
Hi everyone! My picture is pretty blurry Momma. Maybe you better learn how to work your camera a little bit better.
We are fine. Teenagergirl is all over her flu and is back to her old moody self. Momma is much relieved! Us kitties are looking forward to some turkey on Thursday and Momma is going to try to make little chocolate cakes that have melty chocolate in the middle. She found little pans for them and everything.
Right now though she is tired and cranky with canker sores in her mouth. The medicine she pokes herself with gave them to her. She is eating yogurt and drinking cool water for now.
She promised to help us kitties visit our bloggie friends this week and hopes to get to lots and lots at least once this week. She has adorable pictures of us in her camera, but it squawked at her because it's batteries are deaded. She will have to attend to that after she makes dinner.
She is making Christmas cards right now and now is fretting because she thinks they are not cool enough. I'm not sure what that means, but yeesh! Momma sure frets and fusses a lot!
Us kitties are just content to nap and eat Fancy Feast and Party Mix.
Maybe Momma needs a yummy treat to help her relax and nap.
Think like a kitty Momma!
Hugs and Purrs.
Miss Billie~ (who is really not blurry!)

Hello, the perfect Halloween black Cat, Cricket here!
BOO!
Did I scare you? MOL!
Momma is fa-reaking out right now! Her and the Daddyman are refinancing their mortgage and an appraiser is coming over Monday. She has to come in the house. Pretty scary huh? See, Momma gets no help at all with house work and it takes her forever just to get the downstairs vacuumed and dusted because she has been so hurty.
The teenagergirls room should be declared a disaster zone! There is a spare bedroom that the Daddyman started to renovate, but never finished. It looks awful!
When the teenagergirl re-painted her room she moved out a lot of stuff into the front upstairs sitting room. It is a cluttered mess now! Momma can't even get to her window seat without crawling over stuff.
Needless to say she is very discouraged. She is going to do her best to get some things under control.
I say, why worry? After it's all done, the house payment is lower, which means more Nom Noms and toys for us kitties! And personally as a cat, I have no interest in how cluttered the house is. It's a big playground for me! I will help her by snoopervising of course.
Cleaning a house until it's spotless? For Momma, that's scary!
BOO!
Oh, yes, I must add that we are very excited to attend the wedding tomorrow! I must pick out the purrfect outfit. Would orange silk be too much?
Be naughty kitties!
~Cricket!

Not to be gross...
Hey all, Cody here! I hope I do not offend anyone's delicate sensibilities, but whoa! That goop Momma has been giving me really cleans out the pipes if you know what I mean!
I am feeling much better. I am eating as much as I can anytime I want and I haven't barfed since Thursday. I am breathing better because my tummy isn't in as much hurty and I am pooing twice a day. Momma thinks they may be hairball shaped, but it may take a while to get it all out. I have to take that goopy stuff for several more days, then once a week for maintenance.
I have that yucky pink antibiotic too. Um, note to VETS: Cats do Not like bubblegum!
Now I must gain back the weight that I lost. Toeshee has been a pain, so Momma keeps him away from me. She says that when I feel all better and put some weight on she will let me give him a quick smackdown just to let him know I am the big mancat of the house.
We hear that Miss Peach's kidbean Cole is sick in his tummy too and there are lots of other kitties that are sick as well. We are purraying for all of them to get better!
Thank you all so much for your kind words to help me feel better. I will try to be good about taking my medicine to get rid of all of the hairballs. Momma is working very hard to tend to me and make sure the other kitties get attention too.
She has lots of Blog visits to make and must go grocery shopping to get our Nom Noms. the Vet said I should eat really soft stinky goodness, which makes me very happy!
The other kitties; Billie, Cricket and Toeshee are eating well and seem to be feeling tip top. Even Billie who has had her share of health problems seems to be holding steady.
Momma said no one is allowed to be sick for a very long time!
She will keep you updated on my progress in the poo department and hopefully I will avoid surgery.
We Love You All!
Hugs and Purrs
~Cody~

Housework Blues
Hi everybody! I'm busy helping Momma figure out how to get the house clean. This morning I napped in the kitchen and made sure to eat all the treats off of the floor. Momma said, "Um, thanks Billie."
Now I will nap in the living room because the sun isn't streaming in the windows of the kitchen anymore.
Momma is watching her favorite old show. Bewitched! She just loves that Sam! If she were Sam, she would have a nicer husband than Darrin. He was a pain! :) She would also have kitties with magical self cleaning litterboxes!
What are your favorite old tv shows? We know Miss Peach and her Mommy Karla love Lucy. :) We also liked Moonlighting, MASH, and Cheers. Those are all curl up and watch when you don't feel well shows. It's nice when Momma rests like that because then I can curl up with her.
This weekend might be warmer! Even kitties with long floof like me would like a few real summer days here in Michigan.
We hope you are having a nice summer day where ever you are. Take some time to relax. Trust us, the work will still be there ! Hopefully a nice kitty will help you clean up any treats that happen to hit the floor! ;)
Hugs and Purrs, Miss Billie~

The Case of the Missing Internet!
Our internet disappeared again on Friday afternoon. Momma was glad that she was able to post and visit before it went away.
By the time the Daddyman came home it was gone again! This morning it came back and we hope it stays this time!
Momma Lorianna here: Our internet provider shares the telephone poles with the local phone company and works out of their building downtown. Somehow literally or figuratively wires were crossed and we lost the ability to get online. What I don't understand is how I was able to get online earlier on Friday after it was down the first time and then what happened to it after I got offline and later that day? Weird...
Anyway, a repairman finally came out yesterday, determined the problem and gave it to the phone company to fix since they caused the problem in the first place. That of course meant the problem wasn't fixed until this morning.
So now we can blog and visit again! :)
Toeshee says: Yay! I was getting bored Momma!
Hugs to everyone!~

Billie and the floof thief
See this purple comb? It steals some of my floof every time Momma uses it on me! She likes it because it is smooth and gentle and she combs me very carefully with it. Momma says the comb is not stealing my floof, I'm just losing a lot because it is late spring. I still do not trust this comb or any other grooming utensil for that matter!
It is not as warm as it should be here. The teenagergirl just came back inside all grumpy because it wasn't warm and sunny enough to sit outside and read.
She complained to Momma for like, five minutes! Momma has a headache now... :)
I am going to spend the rest of the afternoon napping in the blue chair.
I hope everyone is having a happy day! Hugs!
Billie~
(See Praline? It was my turn! Yay!)
